Известный британский режиссер Терренс Дэвис в 2016 году снял по своему сценарию биографический фильм-драму под названием “A Quiet Passion” о жизни замечательной американской поэтессы Эмили Дикинсон (1830 — 1886).



Фильм снимался в Бельгии, где был воссоздан дом семьи Дикинсон, a также в её родном городе Эмерстe, Массачусетс (Amherst, MA) и в Пэламе, Массачусетс (Pelham, MA).

Главную роль исполнила американская актрисса Синтия Никсон (Cynthia Nixon), а роль десятилетней Эмили сыграла Эмма Бэлл (Emma Bell).



Synopsis: The great and singular 19th-century poet Emily Dickinson requires a one-of-a-kind filmmaker to tell the story of her life, and in Terence Davies she has found a soulmate. The director of "Distant Voices," "Still Lives," "The House of Mirth" and "The Deep Blue Sea" follows the poet from her rebellious college days when she rejected the Protestant pieties of her day, to her increasingly reclusive life in the bosom of her family in Amherst, to her painful death

The editing and pacing are superb, as for example in a slow 360 degree pan around the Dickinson sitting room that begins and ends on Emily's face.”
